ESMC Joins METI to Advance Scalable, Verified Environmental Outcomes in Agriculture

June 10, 2025 – Washington, DC — The Ecosystem Services Market Consortium (ESMC), a national leader in outcome-based ecosystem service markets, is joining the MillPont Environmental Trust Infrastructure (METI™) to further its mission of rewarding farmers and ranchers for delivering verified environmental benefits. This partnership strengthens the market infrastructure needed to scale regenerative agriculture and ensure the integrity of claims across agricultural supply chains.

METI serves as a geospatial clearinghouse that provides secure, tamper-proof digital deeds for sources of environmental outcomes. By integrating with METI’s Source Ledger, ESMC ensures that transactions through its Eco-Harvest market program–whether for increased soil carbon, net greenhouse gas reductions, improved water quality, and increased biodiversity–remain unique, addressable, and transparent across platforms.

Since its launch in 2022, Eco-Harvest has engaged over 375 producers across 250,000+ acres in 26 U.S. states and Canadian provinces. The program covers multiple crop types and cropping systems through landscape-scale supply sheds.

ESMC has built one of the most rigorous and outcomes-based ecosystem service market programs in the country. Partnering with METI helps ensure our outcomes maintain the highest levels of integrity and traceability across the agricultural value chain,” said Alana Pacheco, President of ESMC. “As we expand access to ecosystem service markets and work to meet buyer demand, this partnership enables more confidence and clarity for producers and purchasers alike.

With a multi-stakeholder membership spanning Fortune 500 companies, NGOs, universities, and producer networks, ESMC has pioneered science-backed methodologies to quantify and verify ecosystem outcomes at scale. The collaboration with METI further reinforces ESMC’s commitment to eliminating double counting and building interoperable systems that support Scope 3 reporting and credible corporate climate action.

ESMC’s leadership in building a supply-chain-aligned, outcomes-focused market is exactly what METI was built to support,” said Dominic Sutton-Vermeulen, CEO of MillPont. “We’re thrilled to integrate with the Eco-Harvest program and provide the infrastructure that helps producers and buyers transact with confidence.

Together, ESMC and METI are helping create a more trustworthy and scalable environmental market—one that empowers producers, advances regenerative agriculture, and aligns impact with investment.
